Enough rambling about the whole Setia Walk. I was tagging along Caroline for a food review one day at this place. The cafe which actually took us a fair amount of time to look for, not the owner's fault but I do pity him, was called Bondi Junction.
Now, Bondi Junction is basically a suburb area located nearby two very famous beaches in Australia which is Bondi and North Bondi. Pretty much nail a bit of the concept of Setia Walk if you ask me. The chef, Willy, who learned his trade at this particular area of Australia is basically introducing a fusion Italian menu through his restaurant along with several of his original recipe. So without further ado, let's proceed to the list of food that we sampled that very day.
Foccacia Bread (RM25) |
This Foccacia Bread is one of Bondi Junction's signature starter dish. The main reason is that the bread was freshly bake and you have to call in to order this probably a day or two earlier to book for this dish. To eat the bread on its own is a tad bit dry to me. Not exactly the kind of starter I had in mine. But to accompany this bread, there is 3 types of dipping to go with. The three dips are sun-dried tomato, feta cheese and parsamigo. All three dips had a hint of sourness in them and this made the bread much more appetizing. The fluffy texture of the bread is definitely commendable and if you like bread, this could be your thing. (I'm not really a fan of bread) The portion is huge and could be shared among 8 to 10 pax.
Mushroom Soup (RM11) |
Roasted Pumpkin and Red Capsicum (RM11) |
Beef Lasagna (RM18) |
Chicken Lasagna (RM18) |
The lasagna here should be one of Bondi Junction's proudest dish. The combination of sauce used is good and it wasn't too strong until it drowns the taste of the cheese. But what makes their lasagna really good is that you can taste the obvious layering of cheese, pasta sheets and meat. Willy explained that he uses a certain type of cheese (can't remember what it was and I'm no expert) to bake his lasagna and it can avoid all the ingredients in it to crumble and blend together. This is why you can taste the obvious layering in it at every bite.
Bondi Special (RM27) |
Meat Lover (RM25) |
The pizza over in Bondi Junction are the original recipe of Willy himself. Not only that, their dough was freshly made and prepared by Willy himself every day. So you can definitely guarantee the freshness of their pizza. My personal favorite is the Bondi Special for their unique blend of herbs while Meat Lovers, like its name sake, was filled with generous amount of turkey ham and minced beef. The dough is definitely crispy but it is on the chewy side as well.
Stuffed Seafood Chicken (RM32) |
Chicken Cordon Bleu (RM30) |
The slightly fried Chicken Breast and stuffed with ham is equally nice as well. It is another of Bondi Junction's signature dish and the tender meat was cooked to perfection in my opinion. The wedges were fried crisp brown and definitely crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
Roasted Salmon with Red Pesto (RM32) |
Classic Apple Pie (RM10) |
I am definitely not a fan of any apple pie and unfortunately, this dish did not change my mind about it. I have to commend that the crust of this pie was well made with its crispy and fluffy texture combined but it is a bit tad too sweet for me to handle.
Crème brûlée (RM10) |
Latte |
This Latte was specially ordered by me as its fragrance captivate me when chef Willy was having one. When asked, I initially decline to have a cup because the place was stuffy and I had been sweating the whole time. It wasn't until night where it slightly cool down. Probably it was due to the humidity of the light drizzle and also the fact the restaurant was facing the main road. The latte was surprisingly good and very rich in flavor. According to Willy, they have a guy who personally blend his coffee powder. Definitely a very good cup of latte and if you are around the area, you can drop by and have a cup.
Overall it was a satisfying experience dining at Bondi Junction.
