F by Buffalo Kitchens @ Bangsar
Unknown7:09 AM 2 comments

I don't usually blog about a restaurant so quickly and honestly, I had tonnes of materials to blog about. The main problem for my lack of updates is mainly due to my tight work schedule also my commitment to my main blog. But this, deserves a special attention. You will read further down below.

I am a coffee lover. A simple smell of coffee could get me to salivate almost instantly. Despite that, I had not visit many popular coffee joints due to my other half doesn't like coffee. And on rare occasions she went to an event, if there is a popular coffee joint nearby I will go there immediately to try out their coffee and work.

All pictures taken with my HTC One since my DSLR was abducted for that day

And today (Sunday), Caroline have an event in Bangsar and I had to wait for her event to over. And there is one thing I know about Bangsar besides the hellish jam and limited parking spots, it is a food and coffee heaven. And seeing this is a good and rare chance I ever be here, I asked on Facebook to see where to have a nice cup of coffee besides Coffea Coffee (since I already tried them).

This friend of mine said F by Buffalo Kitchens rumoured to serve a "tahap dewa" which means Godlike coffee. Hearing this, I immediately made my decision to pay them a visit.

The place and interior decorating are definitely cozy and they have an open concept kitchen which I like but unfortunately I did not have a picture of. I initially thought this was simply a cafe like Coffea Coffee but was surprised this is actually a restaurant.

Comes the menu, initially I was wondering why would the waiter hand me a copy of newsletter. Was definitely impressed that they used a newspaper concept for their menu.

It seems they serve quite a number of Western dishes and I was tempted by the Panini selection.

I found their price to be quite affordable as well. Come on, RM 6 for a cup of Godlike coffee? That's like buying a Ferrari with a Myvi's price.

And then I found a section of "Creative Coffee" which got me intrigued. So I decided to ask the waiter what exactly their Creative Coffee selections are all about. Unfortunately, either the waiter could not grasp my question or he wasn't knowledgable enough about their coffee. To avoid any hassle, I just order a cup of Latte. Probably a basic cup of coffee could really test out their quality.

F by Buffalo Kitchens' latte is actually quite good. The one thing I like about their latte is the smoothness of it. It is very fragrant as well. I found it contains slightly more milk than what I like but it was a small issue. The bitterness wasn't too strong but you still have a very aromatic coffee taste. I would actually prefer my latte to be a little warmer than served though but that is only a personal preference. I wouldn't rate it Godlike but definitely one of the better ones I had.

Now, the main problem that deserves the post to be blogged so quickly. In the menu, the hot cup of latte was written to be priced at RM6. This is the bill I got.

The bill stated that the hot cup of latte cost RM 10. That is quite a big difference from RM 6, no? Now before I go on further, I will admit that is the only thing I had from there. Probably a thing they rarely see in their restaurant. The reason was I thought this was a cafe that doesn't have a large selection of cooked meals. Being extremely hungry, I went and had quite a big meal at the Pappa Rich nearby before finding out this F by Buffalo Kitchens. (in my defence, I was told the place is called plainly f buffalo)

Was it because I spent nearly 2 hours in their restaurant not ordering anything else but a cup of latte? When I was given the bill, I did not really think much about it and just pay. It was when I am about to get up, I sort of remember it wasn't priced at RM 10. And since my girlfriend was already done and asking me to go to her quickly, I just took a photo of the receipt and compare it later.

Indeed, it was priced RM 6 on the menu but RM 10 on the receipt. Does that mean if I were to only order a cup of coffee, I was entitled to be charged more? To me, RM10 is still quite a standard pricing for a cup of latte anywhere else but what really takes me back is it was different from the one written on the menu.

If the menu was backdated or printed wrongly, couldn't they simply correct it by taping a piece of paper with the corrected price on it? In fact, their menu is only a piece of A3 paper which could be printed at about RM 3 a piece the most? Not sure about you guys, this is still consider dishonesty to me.

My verdict of this place, probably not the place to visit when you do not intend to spend much.

  2. Hi Eric. Im Priscilla manager of F Concept Dining by Buffalo Kitchens, Allow me to apologize for behalf of the restaurant on your bill error. The coffee had a price difference because my day and night menu is different. Before 5pm it will be RM6 and after 5pm it will be RM10.One of my staff accidentally pressed the RM10 coffee and I'm truly sorry for that. Its will be great for you to come again for a different dining experience. Thank you for your feedback and I will be sure to highlight this matter to all my crew. Have a nice day
