Restaurant Kaw'D Burger Bakar @ Ampang Waterfront

This is another long overdue post. Been slacking both on my main blog and also this food blog lately. My career at the moment is just plain madness! You know what else is mad? Our burger trends. Last year Malaysia was greeted by a trend called Burger Bakar. If you resides around Kuala Lumpur, I bet most of you have heard of the famous Burger Kaw Kaw. The roadside burger stall that sells deliciously awesome burger patty that requires an average of 45 minutes wait due to the crowd.

The interior was fairly simple but it was slightly warm to my liking. It is a good thing that this place have an option to sit and dine outside.

The major difference with the Restaurant Kaw'D Burger Bakar compared to their previous roadside store is that you can customise your own burger at their outlet. Think of it as Subway but the local Malaysian burger version. However, they still serve some of their best sellers and also several key menu item as well for those who do not want the trouble of customising their own burger. The concept of customising a burger is not new but usually not as extensive as what Restaurant Kaw'D did.

One of their signature drinks were made out of soft drinks added with soda in it. They were kinda sweet though and you can have a choice of adding a scoop of ice cream for some added flavours.

Jumbo Dog
The name says it all. Literally. A huge hot dog in between those buns (don't think sideways please) can never go wrong at Restaurant Kaw'D. It was served with their own special sauce (now that sounds a little wrong altogether) and some mustard to give it a little kick. If you wanted something not as heavy as a burger, I would recommend this as it is seriously good. Must be the house special sauce.

Chilli Dog
Definitely not for the spicy lover and the dosage of jalapenos on it makes it that much more appealing to spicy lover. The chilli gravy is actually quite good with the right amount of spiciness to it but I felt it fell slightly short compared to the Jumbo Dog. The hot dog here was not as juicy as the one above but they came with a serving of kick-ass wedges.

Double Decker
Double Decker
A deck of juicy grilled beef patty and another deck of crispy yet tender chicken fillet. Coupled with their homemade toasted bread, this probably a sandwich that would make all meat lovers go out for. Really juicy patty they got there. I come to understand the secret of their success.
Portobello Mushroom Burger
What's so right about this? To me, the mixture of multiple of mushrooms, their sauce, cheese and definitely not forgetting their juicy patty. It is too huge a portion to be eaten but yet too little amount to be enjoyed.
Smokenizer
Smokenizer is definitely one of my favourite burger from this restaurant. One word. Bacon. The bacon strips were fired to crispy perfection and when eaten with their signature juicy beef patty, it is hard for a meat lover not to fall in love with this burger.

Lamb With Cream Cheese
The lamb patty had little hint of gaminess in it but yet very juicy and flavourful. The layer of cream cheese just blends together with the patty perfectly. This is something different that you can't get it anywhere else so I would high suggest ordering this if you ever visit here.

Grilled Chicken With Mozarella
When it comes to the Malaysian burger, I was not much a fan of the chicken patty. The beef patty are usually the juicier and more flavourful ones. It was the same for here but the chicken patty here is pretty juicy as well.
Lamb Carbonara Chilli & BBQ Cheese
A unique combo of carbonara sauce witth chilli gravy and also lamb patty. The combo is weird but it works in many way. The flavour is quite complicated and it wasn't easy to put it into words. However, I would prefer the burger with the cream cheese in terms of taste and flavour.

Kreto Philly Cheeze Stick
The Kreto Philly Cheeze stick was filled with lots of vegetables but throw in some jalapeno and also heaven-sent crispy bacon strips. The taste is excellent and to me, it outdo most sandwiches I ever had (must be the crispy bacon) and if you wanted something lighter on the stomach, I would recommend this dish.

Fraggy (RM9)
Their Fraggy dish is a snacks or finger food platter where they mix sausages and also wedges. The serve it with some cheese sauce and my complain for this dish was there wasn't enough cheese sauce.

Cheesy Tortilla Chips
Cheesy Fries
The Cheesy Tortilla Chips and Cheesy Fries were pretty normal and also underwhelming. I was hoping for some homemade fries and tortilla chips though. But the cheese sauce made all these taste extremely good.

In a nutshell, Restaurant Kaw'D Burger Bakar really lives up to its name of providing some killer juicy patty. It is such a pleasant thing that they maintained their level of food quality for customers and not get too carried away with the hype. I would highly recommend coming to this restaurant especially for their burgers selection. If you can customise your very own burger, make sure you don't leave out any of their signature beef patty. Seriously some awesome stuff they got it going here.
