Manmaru Homemade Udon
Caroline6:15 PM 0 comments

There are a lot of places for Japanese Udon around Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya. But good Japanese Udon are usually hard to find. It will be either the noodles aren't done right or the broth accompanying the udon is too bland. I was invited over to Manmaru Homemade Udon the other day, and they definitely have some of the best udon I ever tasted around here.

Restaurant Kaw'D Burger Bakar @ Ampang Waterfront

This is another long overdue post. Been slacking both on my main blog and also this food blog lately. My career at the moment is just plain madness! You know what else is mad? Our burger trends. Last year Malaysia was greeted by a trend called Burger Bakar. If you resides around Kuala Lumpur, I bet most of you have heard of the famous Burger Kaw Kaw. The roadside burger stall that sells deliciously awesome burger patty that requires an average of 45 minutes wait due to the crowd.

Bulgogi Brothers @ Paradigm Mall
Unknown1:05 AM 0 comments

Korean BBQ never fails to entice me. The smell of barbequed marinated meat slices is one to behold and able to turn any meat lover into a frenzy. Bulgogi Brothers is an outlet no stranger to Malaysians who love Korean BBQ food. And this time around, Bulgogi Brothers are introducing some bold new flavours to their outlet. These are some of the dishes that we had that very night.

Watami Japanese Casual Restaurant @ 1 Utama
Unknown10:41 PM 0 comments

There are plenty of Japanese casual restaurant around in Malaysia. We have no short of them. In fact, almost every shopping malls in Malaysia have at least 1 such Japanese restaurant in their premise. Some are doing okay, some with customers lining up while some are having the battle of their lifetime with flies. However, the ones fully packed with customers are not necessary the best Japanese casual dining around. Hence, I would always love to try out new japanese restaurants. To be honest, I haven't heard of Watami before even they were here in Malaysia already for some years. So here it goes.

The Watami Group is established in Japan in 1984. They were the first restaurant in Japan to come up with the concept of a comfortable place for all occasions. Their concept of providing a comfortable space and also great food for their customers were similar to many bistros and cafes that we Malaysians love as an alternative to mamak stalls.

F by Buffalo Kitchens @ Bangsar
Unknown7:09 AM 2 comments

I don't usually blog about a restaurant so quickly and honestly, I had tonnes of materials to blog about. The main problem for my lack of updates is mainly due to my tight work schedule also my commitment to my main blog. But this, deserves a special attention. You will read further down below.

I am a coffee lover. A simple smell of coffee could get me to salivate almost instantly. Despite that, I had not visit many popular coffee joints due to my other half doesn't like coffee. And on rare occasions she went to an event, if there is a popular coffee joint nearby I will go there immediately to try out their coffee and work.

Chulo Restaurant & Bar @ Jaya One
Unknown6:50 PM 0 comments

The perfect evening to chill out after a long day at work is definitely a restaurant that fused together with a bar as well. I always enjoy coming to places like these as some of them serves amazing finger food and drinks although usually their main restaurant dishes are just average. Chulo Restaurant & Bar, situated at Jaya One has all that I am looking for in terms of concept but it is time for me to find out how they deliver their dishes.

Zest Cafe @ The Sphere Bangsar South
Unknown9:23 AM 0 comments

Healthy eating has been all the rage lately. Either that or I am getting old and the healthy eating trend keeps shoving in my face. Zest Cafe, a restaurant situated at The Sphere Bangsar South, is one of the very few restaurants that decided to keep a healthy eating policy to its approach. Let's have a look at their menu, shall we?

Lunch Promotion at Sanook @ Plaza Kelana Jaya
Unknown7:20 AM 1 comments

One of my favourite dining place in Petaling Jaya is got to be Plaza Kelana Jaya. Living in the city rarely gives me the opportunity to have some fancy place to dine at such as by the lake or river. The closest I have is probably next to a flooded drain which I am sure we Malaysians are all too familiar with. Sanook is located by this man-made lake and it is always a pleasant experience dining here. The cool breeze and soothing atmosphere is a welcome break in my hectic lifestyle. Of course, dining at such place here could also mean one thing. Crazy expensive food. But that is not necessary the case here. Sanook Bistro Sportz Bar is having a lunch promotion called Really Good Value Lunch. They promise good food with affordable price for it as well.

Sanook Bistro Sportz Bar
The interior is set at a comfortable al fresco dining outlook. I definitely wouldn't mind having lunch at such place all the time.

Sri Suria Curry House @ SS3
Unknown4:56 PM 0 comments

The one thing I really enjoy being a Malaysian is definitely I could enjoy food from different ethnic groups. And the one thing I really enjoy is Indian banana leaf rice. But then again, there wasn't much good banana leaf restaurant nearby where I stay. There is one I frequent in Jalan Gasing but then again to be honest, I am only there for their deep fried dishes. Let's leave that aside to avoid comparison for now.

I was informed that there is this new curry house opening in SS3 or specifically, at the side of Sungai Way. It would be just a mere 5 minutes drive away from where I stay so why not right?

The Steakhouse @ Changkat Bukit Bintang
Unknown8:57 AM 0 comments

You know what is the most frustrating thing you can encounter? Bringing a hot date to try a little fine dining in Kuala Lumpur, decided to fork out a little more just to impress your date but only to find out you had spent on crappy steak. It is not that hard to find a place serving steak in Kuala Lumpur or Petaling Jaya but it is quite a task finding one that serves you great steak.

When a fine dining restaurant that was set up at one of the most happening street in Malaysia where there are tonnes of restaurants around that serve good steaks decided to call themselves, The Steakhouse, I am totally looking forward to check out the bases of their confidence.

Chapter ONE @ Desa Sri Hartamas
Unknown8:32 AM 0 comments

This post actually really backdated. Apologies to the restaurant owner for the delay as I was super busy trying to keep up with the things happening around me. This time, I was invited for a review session of this Chapter One outlet at Desa Sri Hartamas. It is one of your neighbourhood bar and bistro outlet that serves all sorts of alcoholic drinks and also food. Their food compromises of both western and local cuisines.

Shell Out Seafood @ Kota Damansara
Unknown5:27 PM 2 comments

I am a fan of seafood cuisines but living in around Subang Jaya and Petaling Jaya could also mean one thing. It is hard to get good and fresh seafood to satisfy my cravings. I was recently invited to review a seafood restaurant in Kota Damansara and I jump to that chance immediately. Who knows I will be able to find my regular seafood joint in Petaling Jaya.

Shell Out Restaurant was located nearby Sunway Giza in Kota Damansara. It was located at the shoplots opposite Sukiya's row.

Indonesian Martabak MBI @ Waroeng Oma, Sunway Mentari
Unknown6:31 AM 1 comments

It is hard to find a good Indonesian restaurant in Malaysia serving really authentic Indonesian food. Little did I know, despite staying at Subang Jaya for more than 10 years, I didn't know there is a cafe catering Indonesian food in Sunway Mentari. That very restaurant is called Waroeng Oma But let's leave the restaurant's review for another post but focus on this martabak manis dessert. Martabak MBI is a small stall located inside Waroeng Oma selling a type of Indonesian dessert called martabak manis. I never really been to Indonesia for their authentic martabak before but I do have several ones back in Johor so let's just see how MBI's martabak match up to them.

Dai Ban Noodles @ Damansara Uptown
Unknown10:15 AM 0 comments

Damansara Uptown has quite a number of restaurants and cafe nearby. Most of it are just decent enough for a quick meal. However, I rarely frequent that place so I wouldn't know too much either. One of the main reason on why I seldom frequent that particular place is the horrendous traffic jam within that area. Still not as terrible as Taipan USJ though. But anyway, I decided to pay a visit to this restaurant with a couple of food bloggers friends and see if there is any more good restaurants around this area that worth the traffic jam. Dai Ban Noodles was the name of the place and I had passed this restaurant a couple of times before and each time I saw some decent crowds in it. Probably best to give it a try as well.

Xiao Lao Wang Hotpot @ Sungai Buloh New Village
Caroline3:49 AM 0 comments

This post actually very long overdue but due to my hectic workload for the past months, I was unable to blog about this. But better late than never right? Xiao Lao Wang Hotpot Restaurant was just recently opened about 2 months ago? I always enjoyed having a Hotpot session or steamboat session with a bunch of friends.  But it is very much a hassle to actually make the whole hotpot or steamboat session on your own. Sure enough, the dining experience is always warm and friendly, but preparing and cleaning up afterwards is usually a turn off especially for me.

A Fusion of Japanese and American Buffet @ Yama & J
Unknown12:26 AM 3 comments

If you are looking for Japanese food but tired of the same similar tasting of Japanese food, Yama & J is here to offer another alternative. The Japanese buffet prepared by this outlet has an American twist to it which is very unique and you couldn't find it anywhere else in Malaysia. I was around during the opening ceremony and this is my verdict of that very place.

Golden Orchid Oriental Thai Cuisine @ Damansara Jaya
Unknown8:57 PM 0 comments

I believe Thai cuisines are one of Malaysians's favorite foreign cuisines. Probably it was due to an almost similarity of having a hint of spiciness and sourness in most dishes. I myself is a fan of Thai dishes. It is a wonder really as I am not too fond of sourish food. Recently, I had a chance to eat at a newly opened Thai restaurant in Damansara Jaya called Golden Orchid Restaurant. Here is my review of that particular place.

Parking was plentiful upon arriving at this area during dinner time. Probably it is due to being off working hours. The place was only opened last 28th March 2013, so I actually have high expectations for them. Because honestly, most restaurants are at their best when they newly opened.

Bondi Junction @ Setia Walk, Puchong
Unknown1:00 AM 2 comments

Setia Walk located at the bustling city of Puchong, is fast becoming a mall that is packed with a good amount of pubs, restaurants and cafes. The architecture of this place is quite beautiful with a man-made large fountain area smacked right in the middle. Behind this beauty, is a nightmarish architecture disaster at some point. The layout is not only confusing but the lack of proper and informative signage adds to the frustration as well. There are stairs that lead to nowhere besides up and down with no exits, the basement is pretty much filled with lifts but there are no signage dictating where those lift pretty much lead to and despite being one of the largest mall in the area, there is only one small entrance which is pretty much a headache to get into. Despite all that, the amount of pubs and cafes will still appeal to one wishing to chill out after a long day of work.

Enough rambling about the whole Setia Walk. I was tagging along Caroline for a food review one day at this place. The cafe which actually took us a fair amount of time to look for, not the owner's fault but I do pity him, was called Bondi Junction.
