What so secret about Kelana Jaya? I give you a hint. Lakeside. Fine Dining. And something Cajun. Thanks to Raymond for the invite. Locating deep deep in Kelana Square is the one and only Secret of Louisiana.
Upon arriving at this restaurant, I’m greeted by this lovely ambient of the restaurant. Dining by the lakeside with some dim warm lights accompanying the atmosphere, things can never be more soothing and romantic. It’s hard to actually believe that such place actually exist in a busy place like Petaling Jaya. Locating next to the Kelana Jaya lake, this place is a definite gem in the hearts of the city.

The inside

The outside
Surprisingly, I was the earliest there and mostly due to the rare smooth traffic. I guess everyone had already gone back home to celebrate Mooncake Festival that very day. Let me introduce to some of the drinks we had that night. Secret of Louisiana is a restaurant serving some Western and Cajun style cooking originated from Louisiana. Their menu compromises 70% Cajun style cooking and so far, the first restaurant in Malaysia to do so.

Apple Juice

Iced Chocolate

Iced Mocha
The drinks are pretty decent to me. I actually think it could be better. I think it only rates average to me.

Seafood Gumbo
For appetizer, we had this dish called Seafood Gumbo. This Seafood Gumbo is definitely the BEST thing I ever tasted in a long time. This is actually a type of stew or soup originated from Louisiana and it’s something I never really tasted before in my life. It is very thick and the ingredients in it is very very generous. the gumbo is compromises of some seafood and it’s a definite must try for all seafood lovers. Dipping those toasted breads with the gumbo is simply magnificent. A perfect appetizer for me and I want more to come. This dish, I highly recommended for those who love some stew to start their meals.

Hawaiian Pizza
This Hawaiian Pizza is served next and it tasted excellent as well. It is very good, with thin crispy crust and the toppings are generous as well. Although, Mei Yee said it could be better but then the owner, Elvin begged to differ. According to him, this is how the crust should be in Cajun style. It would not be too crispy and will be slightly chewy instead. I would not argue as to it it is simply delicious. But still, the Seafood Gumbo is top of my list right now.

Blackened Red Fish with Cajun Vegetables
This Blackened Red Fish with Cajun Vegetables is one of their most recommended dish. If you are a fish lover, you will have no problem liking this fish. I like how the fish is cooked. It’s not fried but more like grilled. I’m not sure how it is done but the freshness and tenderness of its meat is very well kept. Combining with its Cajun style sauce, this dish is quite excellent. It tasted very unique and fragrant as well. The seasoning is done just right to give the fish enough flavor. However, I would recommend eating it with some hot sauce to give it a better taste.

Rack of Lamb
This Rack of Lamb is simply amazing. It is perfectly cooked till 75% done and the meat is so tender and juicy, I would love to have more of it. Cooked with some special cajun seasoning and coupled with their honey mustard sauce, this dish is a bomb. According to Elvin, he had customers who dislike lamb for its gaminess also develop a liking for this dish. This rack of lamb had totally NO GAMEY smell at all from its meat. It’s a definite plus for those who would seek some really good lamb dish with no gamey smell. An excellent dish and my favorite for the night.

Louisiana Famous Shrimp Scampi
If you like spaghetti and some delicious generous sized prawns, this dish is a must try. Every serving of this dish is accompany with 5 generous prawns specially sent here from Sabah. Look at the generous size of the prawns, it is worth every single cent spent on this dish. The spaghetti is al dente which is something I rarely found lately. very very well seasoned and cooked. This dish is simply too good to be true. If you are a pasta fan, this dish is a must try. Not only that, on every lunch time during weekdays, Secrets of Louisiana has a promotion where with just RM14++ pay, you can have all you can eat pasta over there with also a soup bar and salad bar for you to digged in. And do not worry, each of the pasta are not those regular pasta buffet where you go over to the buffet table to have some cold pasta left out in the open. They will be specially cooked upon order and each plate is served pipping hot. Fresh all you can eat pasta only at Secrets of Louisiana. Be sure to be there early as it is usually packed during lunch hour.

Orginal American Cheeseburger

The cross-section of the burger
The last dish of the night is this Original American Cheese Burger. What do I need to say. Just looking at the cross-section of the burger, you will know how generous is the ingredients served with it. The thick and juicy beef patty is totally delicious. Well cooked and seasoned and definitely one of the best burgers I ever had in my life. The bun is also lightly seasoned and toasted to perfection. You will not get enough of this if you are a beef burger enthusiast.
Overall, this is a great dining experience. The food is excellent and the ambiance is totally amazing as well. It is very soothing and calming. If you wanna have a romantic outing or a great family outing, I highly recommend this place. The quality of the food is guaranteed and even complaining to them regarding the food, they will do something about it to make sure 100% satisfaction. However, we did not have any complains regarding the food that night. Even the best actors and actresses in the world could not fake a disapproval to the high quality food served.
